An Effective Benefits Communication Plan Is Essential to Success

Open enrollment is much more than the annual event where plan participants make their various benefit selections. This is when your company gets to tell its story. One of Fickewirth's most important responsibilities is to ensure your company's story is comprehensive and told to plan participants with meaningful precision. A pivotal component of benefits tranquility is confidence that the benefits are being understood and appreciated by your employees.

Part of your story we believe critical to communicate is:

  • The quality and value of the benefits offered
  • How difficult, if not impossible, these benefits are to obtain outside of the group plan
  • If multiple choices are offered in your benefit plans, ensure those choices are defined and relevant to each member's situation
  • Who to contact with questions

  • Create a thoroughly detailed benefits marketing plan with action items specific to your employees and corporate culture, including but not limited to:
    • Email, direct mail and social media campaigns
    • Online enrollment subsidy negotiation and site development
    • In-person meetings
    • Video conferencing
    • Benefit statements ("Hidden Paychecks")
    • Collateral materials with bilingual options (i.e., brochures, posters, etc.)
  • Coordinate with your benefit providers to ensure accurate and comprehensive plan materials are available
  • Coordinate all aspects of benefit vendor presentations made to your employees
